Disabling Windows XP Automatic Update
Q. Can I stop Windows Automatic Update
for running?
A. You can configure Automatic
Updating from the System Icon. Though this feature can be
useful and convenient for many with high speed internet
conections it is quite frustrating if you use dialup access,
or if you haven't got the time at that moment.
- Click Start.
- Click Control Panel.
- Choose the Automatic Updating tab.
- Select "Turn off Automatic Updates."
- Click OK.
To check for updates manually, open Internet Explorer and
select Windows Update from the Tools menu.
